THE TYPES OF CONSULTANCY WORK WE OFFER
Interim Management
We can provide interim management services to deliver specific roles embedded within any organisation’s structure. Typically we will work with organisations going through change to help design and deliver their new structures in order to help recruit the substantive team they need going forward. These roles, ranging from three to 12 months typically, allow us to deliver success while building relationships and being part of your team, ensuring the outcome not only enables success but is the right fit for your culture and context.
An example of this was our recent work the facilitate the merger of three Clinical Commissioning Groups in the east of England. This involved the programme management of all elements of the merger process, as well as designing the new, merged, organisation’s structures and recruiting its new Board as well as taking the merger through the necessary regulatory approval process.
Project and Programme Delivery
Many companies were unprepared for the introduction of GDPR, also known as the General Data Protection Regulation. However, by working closely with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and their departments, we were able to comprehensively explore, map and understand their usage and collection of data on a major scale. This led to the development of a comprehensive record of processing activity where all the data collection and processing done by, or on behalf of, the Council (e.g. by third party contractors) was identified and the lawful basis for that processing clearly set out.
This project was delivered by building relationships with key people in each function of the council, which meant that we could understand the unique problems each area of the team faced. This led to the completion of local data flow maps and the development of a process of checking and challenging the results to ensure that nothing was omitted, duplicates/inconsistencies were addressed and unnecessary or irrelevant data processing activities were stopped.
While that may sound complicated, what matters is that ultimately we were able to improve their efficiency, reduce their costs and get them to consistently comply with GDPR across their entire team.
We also worked with Barnet CCG to review and improve systems for identifying and managing conflicts of interests. This was because they were going through a period of reform and reviewing contracts for NHS services, so it was of great importance that we handled this with care. After developing a deep understanding of their team and unique systems in place, we devised a new process for collating potential conflicts of interests.
Upon rolling this out, we implemented decision making and reporting systems that ensured the CCG’s activities were able to withstand challenges or the suggestion of improper conduct when tendering for and awarding contracts. This was a success and made what would normally be a difficult period, much more straight forward.
Audit and Review
Our clients appreciate our ability to review their systems and assess them against best practice, as well as recommending improvements from ‘quick wins’ to longer term compliance work. Ranging from desk-top reviews to full site visits and interviews we can review your governance and help ensure they are strong enough to support success, without accompanying bureaucracy. We have strong experience reviewing systems for risk management, information governance, conflicts of interests and freedom of information. We can also review your systems for reporting and assurance, from Board and committee reporting to sign off processes and work plans.
